The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has announced plans to limit the recognition of Test Laboratories, Telecommunications Certification Bodies (TCBs) and accreditation bodies operating in countries without a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) or similar agreement with the USA.
The proposal, published on 8 October 2026, will be reviewed at the FCC's meeting on 29 October 2026. If approved, the restrictions would also apply to FCC testing and certification activities carried out in non-reciprocal countries by companies based elsewhere. A transition period is proposed until 1 December 2028, allowing manufacturers and testing organisations time to make the necessary arrangements.
